Madhumita Shukla and Amarmani Tripathi — a tale of illicit love, sex and plotted murder
Poet Madhumita was found to be pregnant with Amarmani's child when she was shot dead at Paper Mill Colony in Lucknow on May 9, 2003. His wife, Madhumani Tripathi, is about to be released from prison.

Amanmani Tripathi, son of Amarmani and Madumani, also competed in the 2017 Nautanwa contest and won it in prison for "murdering his wife".
Amanmani was arrested in 2016 for the murder of his wife. The Samajwadi Party refused to take his seat after his name was mentioned in the case, prompting him to fight as an independent.
